A Water Under The Bridge Story.
"Teach your children well". Make sure they've memorized this lesson before putting them on the school bus.
Shit happens. ⬇️
This nearly happened to my child when he was 8 years old.
He too was lined up, along with the rest of his classmates, awaiting his turn to be auto-administered some type of "routine" Canadian childhood vaccine.
My son, who was an obedient people pleaser, nevertheless summoned up the courage to deliver his memorized line to the nurse holding the epidermic needle:
“I'm not supposed to get needles at school. You need to call my mother."
Whereupon he was ordered to return to his empty classroom and read.
Every other one of his classmates who was marched to the school gym in single file obediently rolled up their sleeves because my son said he sat in his dark classroom, alone, lights off, (Save the Planet) until the freshly jabbed 3rd graders were marched back in.
I did not hear about my son's near miss incident until he disclosed it to me. His school authorities never called me.
FYI: It was made perfectly clear to school authorities that my child was UNVACCINATED.
Furthermore: It was made perfectly clear to school authorities that my child was never to receive ANY injections or medications from any nurses, or from anyone else, while attending SCHOOL, without my prior notification and without my express WRITTEN CONSENT.
That data was in my son's SCHOOL FILE.
THIS PARENT WAS NOT INFORMED OF "VACCINATION DAY"!!
I obviously saw no “consent” form of any kind…
Fortunately, I had a Plan B, should Plan A fail, and my little 8 year old trooper came through.
Oddly: We parents WERE always duly notified prior to Hot Dogs and chocolate milk Friday though…
School Notice (paraphrased):
"On Hot Lunch Friday please remember to give your child exact cash in a marked envelope with his/her name on it.”
Note: My kid wasn't fed that crap at home: Why should he consume that crap at SCHOOL?
So yes, I was always duly informed about Hot Dog Friday but not about Vaccination Friday??
I packed my son nutritious and extra tasty lunches on “Hot Dog Friday". My poor little guy probably didn't appreciate the enormous efforts I made on his behalf, as a child. (Sorry not sorry kiddo.)
Probably still doesn't.
PS: I raised some hell with my son's school authorities after that near-miss-shot incident. Wasn't too popular there or at any other school he attended, as you can imagine.
Oh well! That's all “water under the bridge” eh?
Not really. My son's incident happened in 2005. Canadian schools are still trying to get away with this shit. Nearly 20 years later.
Bottom line to any parents and grandparents of young elementary school children in North America:
NEVER trust school authorities to respect your custodial rights and wishes.
“Teach your children well!”
My friend has even told her kids to do anything, even break a window if necessary, to avoid being v@xed at school.
makes me wonder how many times this happened to one or any of my daughters or son when they went to the catholic school down the street and i never even knew. the word voluntary pops up in my mind here - gotta say NO. Just like at Costco the other day. all the shoppers lining up to scan their membership card at the door now for entrance into the beast. happily i said No and walked in. like your child just said NO
